A bit about Carrie...

Carrie graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with majors in Elementary Education and Spanish. Carrie developed her love for travel as a camp counselor with the Camp Adventure Program during her years at UNI.  From there, Carrie went on to student teach in Cairo, Egypt.  Carrie and her husband were then hired to teach at the American International School in Cairo where Carrie spent three years teaching 5th grade.

After their wonderful adventures in Cairo, Carrie and her husband moved to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and taught at the American International School for 5 years.  Carrie enjoyed teaching second grade at this school while helping to direct the yearly elementary school musical, and having two kids of her own.

The final international stop for Carrie and her husband was on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia.  Carrie taught 5th and 6th grade Language Arts and Social Studies for three years at Caltex American School.

After 11 years of living abroad the Elsers moved back to Iowa in 2007.  Carrie finished her Masters in Educational Psychology and began working to send UNI student teachers to locations across the US and the globe.

Carrie is currently working to finish her Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction (if she survives) and continues to help student teachers have wonderful and diverse student teaching experiences.
