Student Literacy Association (SLA)

The UNI Student Literacy Association (SLA) is a dynamic group of preservice educators interested in literacy and service-related activities. This organization provides its members with opportunities to hear speakers, attend literacy conferences, and participate in literacy service projects.The student literacy association had the very first meeting on September 20th. Over 70 members gathered together for this meeting!

Summer Literacy

Speaker Diane Bahrenfuss

 

 

 

 

 

 

The speaker at our first meeting was Diane Bahrenfuss. She is a teacher at Sunset Heights Elementary School. Diane recently graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with her masters in literacy education. She spoke to the SLA group about the importance of summer literacy for students and the efforts she has taken to help students during the summer.

$250 Scholarships for support during student teaching semester.
The deadline is October 25th by 7:30 pm.
Members can turn in the application to our October meeting on October 25th at 7:30pm in Sabin room 134.
