Dr. Barbara Safford , Associate Professor for the School Library Studies program is our program coordinator. Dr. Safford has been a middle school and elementary school library media specialist in Maryland, a high school media specialist in Ohio and a public library director in Pennsylvania. Dr. Safford has been with UNI since the summer of 1990 and is looking forward to her retirement in May, 2008. Dr. Safford has taught on the first night that the ICN was available and over the past 15 years has taught more than 360 ICN classes for the preparation of teacher librarians at UNI.

Dr. Karla Krueger is a graduate of our program and was a library media specialist at Southeast Webster Schools and at New Hampton High School. She team-teaches Introduction to the School Library Program with Dr. Safford and Kelly Stern. Karla also teaches Library Orientation, Seminar in Web Design for the School Library Media Center and Seminar in Inquiry Learning and Information Literacy.
Karla co-directed the INTIME project and the website was chosen as 101 Best Web Sites for Elementary Teachers by the International Society for Technology in Education.

Ms. Kelly Stern is an adjunct instructor. She team-teaches Introduction to the School Library Program with Dr. Safford and Karla Krueger, as well as Library Resources for Young Adults, Organization of Information, and Automation and Networking. Kelly has been a teacher-librarian at Humboldt High School, Valley Southwoods in West Des Moines, and is currently a teacher librarian for Cedar Falls High School.

Mr. Joseph Marchesani is an Assistant Professor in the division of Instructional Technology. He teaches Instructional Television Production and Media Planning & Production. He is the one to ask any question about creating media for use in education.
