Division of School Library Studies "No modern library, no matter how fine the room, nor how excellent the book collection, is complete without the trained librarian, and this is even more true of the school than of the city library " --Emma J. Breck, 1916
Please stop by the SLS Office in Rod Library 121. Our Office Manager will be glad to answer your questions, arrange for a tour of our teaching area, and arrange a meeting with the Program Coordinator if you are interested in our program. We can also arrange for you to speak with a current SLS student who will give a personal view of what it is like to participate in our program. Classes are held in Rooms 123, 124, and 129 of Rod Library on the UNI campus. Also, the Seminar Room (129) is available for small group meetings. Lockers are available through Rod Library, please make arrangements at the circulation desk. You might want to suggest a locker near the SLS area. Graduate study carols are also available for students. These are located in a quiet room on the third floor of Rod Library near the Youth Collection. Again, please sign up at the circulation desk. The SLS program has a Technology Classroom (124). There is also a collection of research papers and projects from our graduates stored in filing cabinets in Room 125. You are welcome to browse through those you want to review. We, for checkout, also have a digital camera, digital camcorder, two 35 mm cameras, and accessories for these cameras available. A tape recorder is available for student use in research projects. Additionally, one LCD projector will circulate to students who need to do a presentation. Please see our Technology Classroom Manager for more information, or to check them out. Job Postings appear on the News wiki page. You may add postings here for teacher librarian positions you hear about. There are several links for additional job searching on the News page, as well. If you are interested in applying for a position, it would be helpful to let the Program Coorinator know your intent. Calls from school administrators are received regularly. Rod Library resources are also available for your use. You are welcome to use these resources and study in the SLMS area, however PLEASE return library materials to shelving sections at the end of each day. Do not leave these materials in the SLS area or your locker UNLESS you have checked them out.
