Admission to the Division of School Library Studies
"School libraries help teachers teach and children learn. Children and teachers need library resources--especially books--and the expertise of a librarian to succeed. Books, information technology and school librarians who are part of the schools' professional team are basic ingredients for student achievement." -- First Lady Laura Bush

SLS at UNI admits three kinds of students to the program:

Undergraduate students who want either a K-6 or 7-12 media endorsement should talk with both their major advisor and with the SLS Coordinator who will help set up a minor. Students cannot take courses until the junior year, but should plan for the program as freshmen or sophomores.

Graduate students -- MA who must go through the regular graduate admissions process. It is advisable to schedule an appointment with the SLS Coordinator before applying.

Graduate students – endorsement only who are also advised to apply for regular graduate admission and to speak with the Coordinator.
