Our mission is to prepare professionals who demonstrate capable performance and insightful leadership for entry level and senior positions, and to provide advanced study and professional growth opportunities for practicing professionals. Our department is characterized by its emphasis on reflective practice, technology, curriculum integration, multiculturalism, and constructivist philosophy.

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction also endorses and supports the UNI College of Education mission: We seek to find and develop candidates who will become practitioners characterized as reflective responsible decision makers in a global and diverse democratic society.
