The idea that some information can be considered as self-evident truth creates the illusion that a statement is true simply because we say so... "It is intuitively obvious that...." or "everybody knows that".

Example of someone trying to convince you of something by telling you everyone knows its true!

Listen here, there are some things that everybody just knows.... and I know when I'm right and that is it. For example, everybody knows that there will always be problems between parents and children and there is no use in trying to avoid it. When theses things happen the parents have to stick together and not disagree with each other.
