Experts can be wrong!

Just because the person is a judge or a doctor (or is "good looking" or good at sports) doesn't mean he knows which TV is best to buy or how to raise children or for that matter knows everything about anything. And just because someone has some statistics on something doesn't mean they know the whole story.

Example

I agree we ought to improve things right here and I guess it's like that doctor I went to who DID help and he talked about things that I understood. He kept showing me how we could improve things through behavior modification and he really knew how to make those things work for him and for us. If we just deal with the behavior modification we will be OK.

Just because someone is an expert in one area does NOT mean she or he is an expert in all areas. Additionally, just because they ARE experts doesn't mean they are always correct regarding every statement they make even in the area of their expertise. Experts can be WRONG.... but we continue to try and defend our arguments by appealing to one authority or another as if their agreement will make us right. Even when we're wrong or they have no idea what they're talking about.
