ELEMENTARY, EARLY CHILDHOOD, AND MIDDLE LEVEL EDUCATION MAJORS PLANNING TO STUDENT TEACH DURING THE FALL SEMESTER, 2014
If you are planning to student teach during the Fall semester of 2014, you are REQUIRED to attend a Student Teaching Advisement Meeting hosted by the Department of Curriculum & Instruction on Friday, September 6 in SEC 252. Two sessions are available. You may attend EITHER the 12:30-2:00 session OR the 2:00-3:30 session.
Purposes of this meeting:
(1) Assistance with filling out the Student Teaching Application forms you received when you attended the August 26 or 27, 2013 OSFE Student Teaching Roundup meeting;
(2) Advisement on requesting student teaching grade level placements. Most students are able to complete their applications and turn them in by the conclusion of this meeting.
BRING TO THE MEETING:
A Highlighter. Two copies of the white Student Teaching Application Form and one .pdf copy of your latest student advisement report. You will turn in both copies of the application and your report. You received two copies of the Student Teaching Application form at the OSFE Student Teaching Roundup and directions for filling them out. Many students have the first part of these applications completed, or nearly completed, when they come to the advisement meeting. You can save yourself some time if you do this; you'll need the copy of your student advisement report to fill out the application (MyUniverse - student center - my academics - view advisement report - expand and Print the .pdf version of the report).
Should you attend this meeting?
If you did not attend the OSFE Student Teaching Roundup on August 26 or 27, 2013 then you are probably not scheduled to student teach during Fall of 2014. If you have questions about when you are student teaching, please contact the College of Education Advising Center (189 Schindler Education Center, phone: 273-2751). The advisors in that office can help you determine when you will be student teaching. If you ARE going to student teach in Fall 2014, but did NOT attend either of the August meetings, you should contact the OSFE office (Schindler Education Center - Room 509, phone: (319) 273-2202) before attending the September 6 meeting.
If you expect to student teach during the Fall of 2014, you MUST come to one of these meetings.
