How has your College of Education scholarship created opportunities for you :
This College of Education scholarship has created numerous opportunities for me this school year.
This summer my hometown of Cedar Rapids was hit hard by disastrous flooding, and in turn my summer
job was also flooded. Shortly after that I was struck by more obstacles, including a car accident
that left me with a broken hand. I found myself sitting at home for the majority of the summer and
out of work. I was struggling to figure out how I was going to pay for the school year when I
received this scholarship. Now I am able to spend more time this school year studying and taking
on more classes.

What would you tell a prospective student who’s considering the UNI teacher education program:
Any current UNI student can tell you that there will be obstacles throughout your college academic
career and it will not be easy. However, I think that if students are considering the teacher
education program that they should dive right in. Of course, it is intimidating to commit to any
particular major, but the personal rewards will be endless.

What are your career plans :
Currently I do not have any particular career plans. However, I know that I want to be a kindergarten
or first grade teacher possibly in Hawaii. I’m originally from Hawaii and their public education system
is in need of some improvements. My dream would be to teach there and help the community by providing
its students with the best education that I am able to give them.
