Why did you choose the UNI College of Education?
After visiting the University of Northern Iowa, I realized right away that it was the place for me. UNI's education program surpasses all the others, because it equips its students with the education they need to become the best teachers they can be. |
What academic experiences have had a major impact on you?
This past spring I was given the opportunity to be a part of a literacy cohort. My classes last spring and now this fall were all taken at Lincoln Elementary in Waterloo. Taking our classes there gave me, a future teacher, an inside look at what goes on day to day in a classroom. The experiences I have received from this experience have had a huge impact on me as a person, and as a future teacher. Working with students and getting involved in the classroom is the best thing you can do to prepare yourself. |
How has your College of Education scholarship created opportunities for you?
Receiving the Clarence and Carol Letson Endowed Scholarship has allowed my financial load to be lightened; giving me the ability to focus more on my studies. |
What would you tell a prospective student who’s considering the UNI teacher education program?
The UNI teacher education program is an excellenct program, it prepares its students by getting them out in te classrooms as much as possible. The education program keeps you very busy, but just remember to take one day at a time, and always give nothing less than your best. |
