Learning, teaching, advocacy, and problem solving through innovative and creative avenues is a passion for me. I hope that this is evident in my teaching and research. I arrived at UNI in the summer of 2007 after served as faculty and programs coordinator for Counseling and Counseling Psychology at Oklahoma State University. I was faculty for 3 years at Iowa State University (so thrilled to be recruited back to Iowa) and 2 years at State University of New York, College at Brockport. I have 18 years experience in the public education setting, 11 years as a university professor, but also as a GED instructor working with the homeless, factory workers, and substance abusers. I have also been a social studies teacher, K-12 school counselor and college counselor. In addition, I worked in the business sector for 15 years and was a successful entrepreneur opening my own bakery and deli in historic downtown Fayetteville, AR.
