POSITION:

Tenure track appointment for Secondary French Instructor – Beginning August 2008.  Rank dependent upon qualifications and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A Master of Arts degree with an emphasis in Secondary French required.
  2. Appropriate Iowa licensure or eligibility for licensure required.
  3. Training in and experience with current best practice in Secondary French instruction preferred.
  4. Evidence of outstanding competence in teaching Secondary French preferred.
  5. Experience working with diverse groups of students and demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction to reach each student preferred.
  6. Evidence of experimentation and innovation in program and course development preferred.
  7. Experience with interdisciplinary approaches to teaching and teaming preferred.
  8. Experience working with teacher education students preferred.
  9. Involvement with secondary school reform initiatives preferred.
  10. College level French instruction experience preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Instruction: French at the secondary school level at the Laboratory School.
  2. Teacher education: provide model teaching, assist and supervise teacher candidates as they observe and participate in the classroom, journal and reflect with teacher candidates and guide their instructional planning.
  3. Service to the university community, the students, and the State of Iowa, in committee and professional organizations.
  4. Outreach to practicing professionals and research in one's field is an expectation.
  5. Interdisciplinary team involvement is an expectation.
