POSITION:

Tenure track appointment for Physical Education Instructor – Beginning August 2008. Rank dependent upon qualifications and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Master of Arts degree, completed by July, 2008, with an emphasis in K-12 Physical Education required.
Appropriate Iowa licensure or eligibility for licensure required.
Training in and experience with current best practice in Physical Education instruction required
Evidence of outstanding competence in teaching in physical education preferred.
Experience working with diverse groups of students and demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction to reach each student preferred.
Evidence of experimentation and innovation in program and course development preferred.
Experience with interdisciplinary approaches to teaching and teaming preferred.
Experience working with teacher education students preferred.
Experience using technology preferred.
Experience teaching aquatics preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instruction in K-12 physical education and interdisciplinary team involvement.
Teacher education: provide model teaching, assist and supervise teacher candidates as they observe and participate in the classroom, journal and reflect with teacher candidates and guide their instructional planning and assist with teacher work samples.
Service to the university community, the students, and the State of Iowa, in committee and professional organizations.
Outreach to practicing professionals and research in one's field is an expectation.
