Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor
Department of Special Education
University of Northern Iowa

Position:  Assistant/Associate Professor of Special Education with required specialization in the area of high incidence disabilities, K – 12.

Appointment Date:  August, 2008
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience. Benefits include TIAA/CREF, group life, disability, medical and dental insurance.
Qualifications: 

Required:  Earned doctorate in Special Education or related field (ABD with degree completed by August 2008 will be considered); experience in public or private general and special education inclusive programs providing direct services to individuals with mild disabilities; experience in college teaching; and demonstrated or emerging record of research.
Desired: Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas: differentiated instruction, literacy, math, assessment (intervention-based), positive behavior supports, technology, family centered practices. Experience in a collaborative teacher education program; involvement in successful grant procurement; and experience integrating technology into course instruction also desired.

Responsibilities: Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, collaborating with schools and service providers, advising students, providing field-based supervision, and publishing and procuring grants. Opportunities for distance education.
