Guidelines for Facility Usage During Office Hours

  • The CME staff, according to availability and information provided, makes all room assignments.
  • Preference will be given to CME annual/traditional events and other cultural or diversity related events.
  • In order to guarantee availability & employee coverage, please reserve at least two weeks prior to the date of your event.
  • Contracted groups are responsible for ALL set up and teardown.
  • Be sure to allow time to setup, cleanup, and teardown.
  • Events serving large quantities of food - Trash needs to be taken out.
  • Photocopies cannot be made at the CME. Photocopies can be made in the downstairs Maucker Union office, for a nominal fee.
  • Breakdown is always immediately following the event.
  • Facilities must be restored to original arrangement/configuration.
  • Setup is the responsibility of the group using the CME. Please arrange to arrive early enough for setup.
  • All persons are required to vacate premises after breakdown.
  • Food, beverages and other items in the CME cupboards and refrigerator may not be used.
  • All noticeable spills and spots of food and/or drink must be cleaned.
  • CME kitchenware may be used but must be washed and returned to its proper storage area. No food or containers should be left on premises without permission. No Kitchenware may be removed from the CME.
  • The unlawful manufacture, distribution, possession or use of alcohol by students, employees or community members on property owned or leased by the University of Northern Iowa, or in conjunction with a University-sponsored activity is prohibited. Violation of this policy will result in University disciplinary action. (Exception: If there is a function for faculty/staff at the CME and alcohol is desired, the Director for Multicultural Education must be notified two weeks prior to the function.)
  • Guidelines for Facility Usage During Evening/Weekend Hours
  • A CME employee must open, close and be on the premises during all evening and weekend events. Therefore, late reservation requests may be denied if coverage by a CME employee cannot be acquired due to short notice.
  • The room can be reserved for no later than midnight.
  • CME staff are available for assistance. However, the main duty of the staff is to monitor the facilities throughout the evening.

You will be notified of application status within three business days of submission. Facility reservations at the Center for Multicultural Education are at the discretion of the Director or Assistant Director for Multicultural Education, and are based on availability, staff coverage, and University holidays.
