Harriet Skye, a 61-year old Lakota woman from the Standing Rock, ND Reservation, just graduated N.Y.U. Film School. This film is about her pilgrimage back to her people. Having seen Indians misrepresented in the media, she wanted to produce honest, realistic portrayals of her tribe.

In 1996, two college students stumbled upon an anthropological find: a human skull that turned out to be one of the oldest skeletons ever found in North America. This film explores the firestorm of controversy which erupted when the Native American tribe in the area demanded that the bones be repatriated to the tribe for reburial by the Federal government.

 

Spirituality: The American Indian Red Road Perspective

Learn about spirituality and health from the American Indian perspective. Join Raymond Slick, MSW, Meskwaki Tribal Member, who will share information on the healing nature of specific herbs and the American Indian concepts and ways of spirituality. A short meditation session is included as part of this interactive session.
