WHAT IS THE G.P.S. MENTOR PROGRAM?

The G.P.S. (Gaining Panther Success) Mentoring Program is designed to help new minority students make a successful transition to college and to reduce social and cultural isolation by strengthening the relationships among new minority students and the University of Northern Iowa (UNI). Throughout the academic year, G.P.S. Mentors will play a major role in helping the students adjust to the UNI and Cedar Valley communities. Mentors will help the University connect new students to academic opportunities, campus activities and programs, provide them with informal and formal peer mentoring, and assist them with navigating policies that govern student conduct.
