Education:
Working on B.A., Spanish and French teaching, University of Northern Iowa

International Experience:
In the spring of 2011, I studied Spanish in Oviedo, Spain for five months. Alongside other UNI students, I was able to use, understand, and learn Spanish in new and unique contexts. By living with a host family, I learned and lived Spanish culture through first-hand experience and conversation. My time living in Spain only further cemented my desire to pass on the richness of Spanish culture, history, and language to students in the United States.
Additionally, I have traveled to China, England, France, Ireland, and Scotland.
Why do you enjoy working with international students?
Globalization is changing the way societies function, and proficiency in other languages and cultures is even more essential than ever. Through language learning, students are exposed to a whole new culture of ideas. With these new ideas, students are able to learn about themselves, engage in personal and professional growth, and share their cultures with others on campus. Through this international and cross-cultural dialogue, students and faculty can approach essential questions in new ways to improve their understanding of both local and global issues.
