City College of Dongguan
In the summer of 2008, the CIEP implemented one of its special programs with students and scholars from City College of Dongguan University of Technology, Guangdong Province, China. During their three-week stay, the Dongguan University students and scholars participated in CIEP classes, social activities, and field trips all while embracing the American culture. During their three week stay, the students attended classes on American Culture, English Fluency, Grammar, and Listening and Speaking. After settling into their temporary living quarters at UNI, attending an Information Session, and participating in a campus tour, the Dongguan visitors joined CIEP students, staff, and instructors for a Welcome Picnic at Seerley Park on July 15. Everyone enjoyed food, laughs, and entertainment. By the end of their first week with the CIEP, Dongguan University students and scholars visited Des Moines, the state capitol of Iowa, the Living History Farms Museum, Neal and Chris Schrage’s farm (friends of the CIEP), and enjoyed an Ice Cream Social.
