SEVIS Information

On September 1, 2004, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security began charging a nonrefundable $200 SEVIS fee for those seeking an F-1 visa from an embassy or consulate abroad for initial attendance at a school approved by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). For more detailed information on the fee payment process, go to http://www.ice.gov/sevis/i901/index.htm. The I-20 form is needed before you can complete the I-901 form. The CIEP includes the SEVIS charge in its application fee. However, students or others are welcome to pay this fee themselves.

A receipt showing fee payment must be presented to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate before the F-1 visa will be issued. The Culture and Intensive English Program will send the SEVIS receipts with the I-20 form to prospective students after the students’ application form and documents have been processed.
