Carolina Coronado-Park begins term as Interim Director of CIEP

As of July 1, 2014, Carolina Coronado-Park will be the Interim Director of the UNI Culture & Intensive English Program.  

Carolina earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Science with an emphasis in Journalism from Universidad de Piura, Peru in 1995. She later completed the Culture and Intensive English Program (CIEP) and was admitted into graduate studies at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI).  In 1999, she earned her Masters of Arts in Political Science at UNI.

Throughout her career, Carolina has also taught several university-level courses including Spanish at the University of Northern Iowa and International Relations Theory, Second Track Diplomacy, and Conflict Resolution at Universidad de Piura in Peru.  She holds a certification in Multi-Track Diplomacy and Conflict Transformation from the University of Maryland. In addition, she has completed graduate-level coursework at the UNI Department of Communication Studies, focusing on interpersonal and intercultural communication.

Carolina will be serving as the interim CIEP Director for the 2014-2015 academic year, as the previous Director, Philip Plourde has assumed leadership responsibilities for the UNI Office of International Programs.

These leadership changes follow the resignation of the Associate Provost for International Programs, Dr. Craig Klafter, who has accepted the position of founding rector (president) of the American University of Myanmar in Southeast Asia.
