RE: Faculty Development Grants for Probationary Faculty

Attached to this memo is a description of the CHFA program for untenured,
tenure-track faculty development. The program attempts to address specific
professional needs of probationary faculty.

Applications for Probationary Faculty Development Grants can be submitted
to the Dean's Office at any time during the academic year and allocated funds
must be spent by May 31, 2007. Decisions regarding these awards will be made
by the Dean. Please consult Application Guidelines for details about the review
process and evaluation criteria of your grant proposal.

In a nutshell, applicants for the development grants should adhere to these guidelines:

•  Probationary faculty development grants are limited to a maximum amount of $500 for each award

•  Probationary faculty may not receive more than two awards per probationary period

•  Probationary faculty may not receive more than one probationary grant in any academic year
