Department of Modern Languages

The Department of Modern Languages at the University of
Northern Iowa prides itself on preparing students for teaching and
non-teaching positions in today's world. With courses in Chinese,
French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish,
students are given considerable orientation toward the target cultures,
both by assuring the presence on campus of native speakers and by
offering a series of overseas and on-campus study programs. Studying
modern languages can open a world of opportunities in many professions
for a career in the United States or abroad.
