James Hearst ScholarshipAmount: $350 (approximately) The Hearst Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student Irene M. Thompson ScholarshipAmount: Varies All undergraduates and graduate students continuing at UNI are eligible. Contributions as a student to the total program of the college and department are to be the primary criteria for nomination and selection. The recipient must be a full-time student. Undergraduate students are required to have at least a 2.00 GPA and graduate students at least a 3.00 GPA. (Note: Students must be attending UNI the following year to be considered for the scholarship. Dean's AwardAmount: $500 To be eligible for this award, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.5 and must have made some outstanding contribution to the department. The mode of selection is at the discretion of the nominating department. A single award will be selected from candidates' names submitted to the Dean's office. A cover letter from the department head/school director specifically recommending a student for this award must accompany the application. David Sands Wright ScholarshipsAmount: Varies Several awards will be available each year for CHFA graduate or undergraduate teaching majors in Theatre, Art, or Music. The exact amount of the award depends on the number of qualified applicants that are nominated, except that no award will be less than $500. Scholarships are awarded to undergraduate or graduate students "of promising ability who need financial assistance to prepare themselves for teaching careers in the fine arts." (Please note: Nominees MUST be on a teaching track in the qualifying majors to be eligible for this award.) H.W. ("Bill") Reninger ScholarshipAmount: Varies (approximately $500) The Reninger Scholarship is awarded to either an undergraduate or graduate student majoring in the programs of Art, Communication Studies, English Language and Literature, Modern Languages, Music or Theatre. The department of the award will rotate alphabetically each year. For the 2001-2002, the Department of Communication Studies will hold the award. Student nominees must have at least 3.5 GPA in their major and a 3.25 GPA overall. While academic and artistic promise is one basis for the award, the need of the student will be a primary consideration.
