College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences Student Employee, Meghan Opolka Named as UNI Student Employee of the Year
We are excited and proud to announce that our own, Meghan Opolka, was named the 2014 UNI Student Employee of the Year
at the Student Employee of the Year Luncheon. Opolka was selected from a group of over 30 fantastic students nominated for the award. The students represented a broad range of departments and duties.
Opolka is a part of the College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences (CHAS) team as a Recruitment Office Assistant and an employee of the Dean’s Office. CHAS Dean Joel Haack nominated her with the support of the Dean’s Office staff.
Dean Haack stated in her nomination letter, “I can think of no instances when she was anything less than a delight in her dealings with students and families visiting campus. Meghan, without exception, presents a positive and energetic image of the college.”
Nominees were judged based on reliability, quality of work, initiative, professionalism, and the uniqueness of the student’s contribution to the employer. Opolka’s nomination will be submitted for regional and national consideration.
Celeste Bembry, CHAS Recruitment and Retention Coordinaotor, stated, “Her positive outlook and broad scope of duties make her a wonderful ambassador for the college as well as the university.”
Congratulations to an outstanding student and a wonderful part of our CHAS team.
