Renewable Energy Bill SF 117 http://coolice.legis.state.ia.us/Cool-ICE/
Senate Commerce: Assigned to Subcommittee:

SF 117 ALTERNATIVE ENERGY REQUIREMENTS - Angela (C), Beall, Bolkcom, Brunkhorst, Larson

This looks like a great subcommittee. Bolkcom is great, Larson is interested in the idea and Brunkhorst comes from Waverly and is close to the very progressive municipal utility there. I think Angelo wants to do it and that is why he picked a five person committee which will give a third of his committee direct knowledge of the bill.

HOUSE study bill (companion the Senate bill SF 117) and the sub that meets on this.

HSB 119 ALTERNATIVE ENERGY REQUIREMENTS (Commerce) Increases the requirement for the purchase of alternative energy by utilities to 10% by 2010. Limits the amount of alternative energy produced from sources that went into service before 2004 to 2%. Establishes an energy credit trading system. Contains other related provisions. Dix (C), Freeman, Frevert. See SF 117.

This will be for sure reported to the whole committee since Freeman is the sponsor of the house bill and Frevert would be good in any case but will be likely to work on this because she comes from the Spencer area. I don't know about Dix. He decides whether to even hold a subcommittee meeting.
