About Us

The Center for Energy and Environmental Education is housed at the University of Northern Iowa. Its mission is to nurture a positive environmental ethic and to develop environmental literacy in children and adults. This mission is carried out through educational programming, instructional materials development, educational research and community outreach.

One of the Center's foci is waste reduction. This program includes:
•  Teacher workshops for graduate credit and/or recertification;
•  Pre-service workshops for education majors;
•  Lesson plans;
•  Presentation ideas from Iowa recycling education coordinators;
•  An archived listserv;
•  And other waste-related information.
