Description:

Staff who are currently employed may ask for an accommodation based on work restrictions upon their release to return to work from a medical leave of absence. HR would not typically be asked to handle other types of accommodation requests. Those would be handled directly by the department.

Faculty/Staff Disability Services

Web Site: http://www.vpaf.uni.edu/hrs/disability/index.asp

The primary responsibility of FSDS is to accommodate faculty and staff that have disabilities. The process may be initiated by an employee or the employee’s supervisor. After an accommodation request is received, a case-by-case evaluation is made using an interactive process involving the employee, supervisor, and FSDS Coordinator. Effective follow up with the department and the employee is vital to every plan’s success.
