Conducted in Gilchrist Hall, on-campus interviews are available only to UNI students and alumni registered with the UNI CareerCat during the current year.
On-campus interviews are conducted for permanent, cooperative education, and internship positions. Interviews for cooperative education or internship positions are available only to students currently registered with the UNI Cooperative Education/Internship program.
Please read the following information carefully before trying to schedule an interview.
On-Campus Interviewing Guidelines
- Request interviews only when your major, GPA, and date of graduation match with the requests of the company. If you need clarification of the information contained in UNI CareerCat, contact UNI Career Services for assistance.
Preparing for the On-Campus Interview
First impressions are important, and the on-campus interview is your opportunity to make a lasting, positive impression. The following are recommended:
- To better prepare yourself as a candidate, it is strongly recommended that you schedule a mock interview with a Career Services Peer counselor. At least one week's advanced notice is needed to schedule a mock interview. Call Career Services at 273-6857 to schedule an appointment.
- Conduct research on each employer prior to your interview. See Identifying and Researching Employers for links and information.
The Day of the Interview
On-campus interviews are held in Gilchrist Hall. You should arrive 10-15 minutes before your interview. Ask for the employer's business card so you will have the proper information for your thank you letter. This letter should be sent within 48 hours of your interview.
If you will not be able to attend the interview, contact the UNI Career Services immediately at 273-6857. Failure to appear for an interview is an affront to the employer and eliminates opportunities for other students. No-shows are not tolerated. Students who fail to appear for an interview will be expected to send a letter of apology to the company representative, and provide a copy of that letter to the UNI Career Services.
On acceptance of a job offer:
- Notify the UNI Career Services immediately to withdraw from the placement process. Immediately notify other employers with offers pending.
- Honor your acceptance of the offer as a contractual agreement with the employer.
- Never accept two offers. Unethical: Continuing to interview and take site visits after accepting an offer; reneging on an accepted offer.
If you are interested in taking advantage of these interview opportunities and you have met all of the stipulated requirements, you may login to UNI CareerCat now.
