The Liberal Arts Advantage
A liberal arts major not only provides students with well-rounded knowledge and intellectual proficiency in the arts, humanities, and sciences but also with many skills and qualities that employers need and want in new hires! Going to class, writing papers, doing research, doing lab work, collaborating with other classmates for group projects and giving oral presentations to the rest of the class help students develop these skills that employers are seeking from new candidates such as such as verbal and oral communication skills, teamwork and initiative, problem-solving, analytical skills, time management, flexibility/adaptability, organizational skills. Liberal arts majors need to put more emphasis on their skills, qualities, accomplishments, and experience than the major when they are looking for career paths and writing their resume.
