Majors

Majors, Selected Careers, and Other topics of Interest - Provide information on topics occupational titles and employers, web resources, and selected resources available from the Career Services Library.

What Can I Do with a Major In - For each major you can find an outline of common career areas, typical employers, and strategies designed to maximize career opportunities.

Career Cruising - Assessment tools and detailed occupation profiles. Log in using your UNI ID number.

UNI Academic Advising - It works with individuals who are deciding, changing majors, first-year students, and experiencing academic difficulties.

Occupational Outlook Handbook - Search by keyword or index for information on training and education, earnings, expected job prospects, what workers do on the job, working conditions, and related occupations.

O*Net Online - Find occupational information relating to tasks, knowledge, skills, abilities, work activities and context, interests, work values, wages and employment and realted occupations.

Explore Health Careers - This is an interactive health careers website designed to explain the array of health professions and provide easy access to students seeking information about health careers.

Career Guide to Industries - Search by keyword or index for information on occupations in the industry, training and advancement, earnings, expected job prospects, and working conditions.

America's Career Infonet - Review occupational profiles including wages, employment trends, knowledge, skills and abilities, education and training, and link to other web resources.

CareerOneStop- Explore Careers - Find more about self-assessments, occupations and industries, employment trends, skills, and more.

Career Voyagers - Explore high demand occupations and find which industries are growing.

IWIN Careers - The Iowa Career Resource Guide from the Iowa Workforce Development provides information to assist individuals with career planning and aid them in making informed career choices.

UNI Career Services Library (CSL) - For additional resources you can search the UNI Career Services Library or the Rod Library collection using a keyword search with the term major or vocational guidance.

Selected Videos

Career Videos - Watch online videos showing people working in specific occupations. These short clips give details about career options that might help you to make an informed choice.

School To Career Videos - The Iowa Public Television (IPTV) School to Careers worksite offers information on over 140 occupations and more than 220 careers - all available in Iowa. Besides information on careers you can e-mail questions to the workers featured for each occupation and, for some of the occupations, you can watch a short video describing the work that is being done.

Career Videos (Careermag.com) - About 350 career videos organized by category and careers in that category.

Career Video Podcasts (CollegeRecruiter) - Find audio or video recordings that you can listen or watched on your computer, iPod, or other MP3 player. Find information about careers in various industries, how to prepare for career fairs, interviews, how to dress for the success.
