Financial Assistance
Graduate Assistantships
Graduate Assistantships vary from college to college and program to program. Many institutions do provide a stipend and often some kind of tuition waiver, however. It is important to submit applications early since there are usually a limited number of positions available. Interviews may also be requested before assistantships are assigned. These should be approached like any other job interview; you will be competing against other graduate students.
Internships
Some colleges offer internships where you receive credit for your work. Some internship positions carry a stipend while others may waive a portion of tuition.
Scholarships
A variety of scholarships are available to graduate students. Usually a list of Federal, State, and locally funded scholarships are available in the financial aid office at the university to which you are making application.
Loans
Student loans are available to applicants of graduate school. Your financial aid office should have literature covering the specifics of the different kinds of loans available to prospective graduate students. (UNI Financial Aid)
