Information for Faculty

Welcome! We believe that faculty play a very important role in the effective delivery of our services to our students. Faculty members are able to refer students to and encourage them to use the many resources we have available. In addition, faculty members may have contacts with UNI alumni or other potential employers who may want to utilize our services in the hiring of students as interns or permanent employees.

Class Presentations - If you have a schedule conflict that would normally cause you to cancel class, consider allowing us to assist you! We would be happy to present to your class on topics such as careers, resume writing, interviewing tips, internships, and job search starategies.

Career Exploration Resources - Often times students are unclear on their career direction. They love their major but may not know what is next. That is very common and normal; they can schedule a meeting with one of our professional staff at any time to get started. We have a web-based resource, Career Cruising, that they can access from the Career Services website at any time.

We also offer the Strong Interest Inventory (based on Holland's Theory) and the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Inventory) Career Reports to help students identify what work setting will likely be most rewarding to them. There are small fees for the Strong ($8) & MBTI ($13) which students can have assessed to their U-Bill.

Graduate School Practice Tests - Each semester Career Services hosts the Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions who offer practice tests on-campus each fall and spring semester, typically in October and February. Tests offered include the GRE, LSAT, MCAT and GMAT. This is a free service. To register go to Take a Free Practice Test and click on the practice test you’d like to take. Academic Services at UNI offers GRE non-credit preparation courses. Students can register online at the Reading and Learning Center.
