Completing Hiring Paperwork for an International StudentHiring an international student follows a very similar process as a domestic student. The main items to remember is international students may only work a maximum of 20 hours per week while school is in session. Additionally, international students must remain enrolled full-time (except for summer or the final semester of study). Janice Rogers in Payroll and Ross Schupbach in International Programs can answer workforce eligibilty questions.
- The student must make an appointment with Janice Rogers in UNI Payroll (103 Gilchrist, 319-273-6212). The student must take the following forms to the meeting: VISA, Passport, I-94, I-20, DS2019, I-797 (HI-B), etc. This meeting is part of what is required to obtain a Social Security Card and Number (SSN).
