Developing a Successful Campus Relations Program
A well organized on-going partnership with targeted universities builds relationships with potential employees. These programs increase employer visibility, provide employer experience and training and eliminate the dependency on interviewing and hiring students in their senior year. College and university partnering can also build a foundation for shared research and continued education.
Career and Recruiting Fairs

UNI Cooperative Education/Internship Program
Participation in early identification of students who appear to have potential interest in an employer organization is a win-win situation. Students complement their academic programs and possibly receive compensation, while the employer gains training time, productive work, and potential future employees. Experiences can be for course credit or no course credit and in profit or not-for-profit organizations. These experiences also provide an opportunity to evaluate the student on the job and enhance their ability to be a successful candidate upon graduation. Contact Cooperative Education for more information (Phone: 319-273-6041).
Linkages with Students Through Organizations and Classes
Many UNI student organizations invite professionals to speak at their meetings. Students gain insight and encouragement regarding potential career options, and employers meet potential employees. To obtain a listing of student organizations access the Student Organization Online Directory. Class presentations may be arranged by contacting the appropriate academic department.
Social Events
Other appropriate social or academic-related events with faculty and/or students can raise employer visibility for all constituents. Employers are expected to observe the Principles for Social Events documented by the National Association of Colleges and Employers.
