Tips

Get More Applicants

With nearly 500 jobs and internships available to UNI students at any time, it serves many organizations well to email or contact students that qualify for recently posted positions. You can post your position on CareerCat and then select "Search for Students" to send an email message encouraging students to apply.

Follow-up

The number one complaint our advisors hear from students is that employers do not follow-up. Send a brief email to applicants telling them where you are at in the process. If your organization allows, our students appreciate a kind letter if they are no longer being considered.

Upgrade (for free) to On-Campus Interviews

Want to impress students and show you are serious about hiring? Instead of conducting phone interviews, schedule on-campus interviews. Interviewing on-campus will often help the student feel at ease and give a more honest and better interview.

A Bad Applicant

If a student turns in a bad resume or is generally not professional in approaching you, please tell Career Services. A quick notice from you will help us and the student in improving their approach. If reported, UNI Career Services will protect your organization's privacy.
