Exploring Energy

Monday – Thursday, July 6-9

9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Explore where energy comes from and how we use it. Investigate how we can use our current energy resources more efficiently while seeking alternatives. Examine how our choices affect the Earth’s atmosphere. A field trip to a wind farm and hydropower station is planned to learn even more up close. Registration fee: $80

Rivers, Rocks and Prairies

Monday – Thursday, July 13-16

8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Investigate the world around you as you learn what makes up the ground under your feet and use the technology for mapping it out. Compare stream water to well water and examine the different kinds of Iowa fish. Explore a prairie to discover its make-up. Two field trips are planned for this week! Registration fee: $80

Beginning Robotics

(Both Robotics camps are currently full, names can be placed on the waiting list. Contact Katie Schafer for more information.)

Monday – Friday, July 6-10 and July 13-17

8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Participate in a series of training challenges using the LEGO NXT robot and the LEGO Mindstorms programming software. Learn how to use feedback from sensors, combined with timing, loops and conditional statements to control your robots' behavior. The week will end with a competition to make the planet Pantheon habitable for a colony of space explorers. Registration fee: $100
