Panther High School Marching Band Camp

THREE Tracks for High School Students:

Drum Major: with focus on basics and advanced conducting, such as posture, hand/arm position, finding the ictus, conducting patterns, showing dynamics, and different styles, as well as cueing, varied conducting gestures, changes in cut-offs, and expressivity.  Marching fundamentals, commands, and leadership skills will also be explored. In addition, marching fundamentals would be explained and drilled, and students would receive the opportunity to practice count-offs, instruct marching, practice parade marching, and develop salutes. Led by UNI Alumn Nicki Davis with previous and current Panther Marching Band drum majors, participants are encouraged to bring scores and a CD of their program's 2014 show.

Colorguard: with focus on beginning, intermeditate, and advanced basics, tosses, marching, and movement. Sessions will also focus on student leadership and colorguard choreography including transitions and equipment.  A rifle track is new in 2014!  Led by Amy Hunzelman, UNI colorguard instructor with current Panther Marching Band colorguard members.

Frontline: with focus on percussion accessory and keyboard skills.  Led by Barry Dvorak, UNI drumline head with current and past Panther Marching Band frontline members.
