My primary area of research is Modern Russia. Specifically, I am interested in the cultural and religious history of Imperial Russia during the eighteenth century. St. Basil's Cathedral is located in Moscow and those interested in news from Moscow should read The Moscow Times , the leading English-language daily in Moscow. |
| Peter the Great founded St. Petersburg in 1703 and shortly thereafter proclaimed it the capital of Imperial Russia. In 1918, Lenin, and the new Bolshevik government, moved the capital back to Moscow. News from St. Petersburg is best learned through the St. Petersburg Times. |

I am also interested in the history of Modern Greece. Athens News is an adequate source of current events in Greece and its Web site offers links to other exciting and informative sites. |
| Meteora, located in north-central Greece, rises precipitously above the plains of Thessaly. |

Of course, every trip to Greece must include a visit to the Aegean Islands. For those who like to vacation away from the crowds, Sifnos is a delightful location. |
| If, however, you adore crowds and cannot possibly survive without an ecstatic nightlife, Mykonos is for you. |
