Athletic and Athletic Training Facilities

Introduction

The long anticipated opening of the Human Performance Center has finally arrived. In January of 2008, the Division of Athletic Training officially moved into the first floor of the HPC. Our space includes all faculty and staff offices, an athletic training classroom, athletic training research laboratory, athletic training room, hydrotherapy room, conference room, reception area, and graduate student office suites. In addition, the Cedar Valley Medical Specialists P.C. opened their offices in the HPC and are now offering orthopedic, physical therapy, and diagnostic imaging services to the public. Located within the new building is a new state of the art Sports Medicine Center. The new Sports Medicine Center has been enhanced by a public and private partnership between the UNI Athletic Training Education Program and the Cedar Valley Medical Community. The new center includes new athletic training facilities, classrooms, laboratories, and advanced diagnostic technologies that will enhance the educational opportunities provided through the athletic training education program as well as the athletic training services. The outreach clinic will also provide the greater Cedar Falls/Waterloo community with access to highly skilled and experienced medical professionals who specialize in sports and general medicine.

Previously, the UNI Athletic Training Education Program was located in the Wellness and Recreation Center (WRC). It was moved to the New Human Performance Center upon completion in January of 2008. The space that previously housed the UNI Athletic Training Room, is under construction and will soon house the new Strength and Perfromance Center.
