Athletic Training Graduate Assistantships


Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer Positions

The University of Northern Iowa offers graduate assistantships when positions are available. These positions are two year appointments and highly competitive.

 

Qualifications

  1. Undergraduate degree in athletic training or related field.
  2. 3.0 GPA.
  3. Acceptance into the Graduate School.
  4. Acceptance into the Graduate Athletic Training Program.
  5. NATABOC Certification or eligible.
  6. First Aid and PR-AED CPR Certification

Responsibilities

  1. Potential positions on campus consisting of coverage and travel with NCAA Division I athletic teams, including, but not limited to women’s soccer, men’s and women’s track, baseball, swimming, tennis, golf, & cheerleading.
  2. Potential positions off campus at local secondary schools serving as head athletic trainers; youth sport associations, and Wartburg College.
  3. Field Experience Supervisor duties within UNI’s Entry-level Athletic Training Education Program.

Appointment Length

  1. Ten (10) month renewable appointment (August 1st-May 31st).

Compensation

  1. Full tuition waiver.
  2. Stipend of $7,624.00 per year (2005-2006 dollars).
  3. Possibility of summer employment with sports camps or conditioning programs.
