Why did you choose the Athletic Training Education Program at UNI?

chose the athletic training program at UNI because I wanted to stay close with sports and I also wanted to work in a medical field. If I could not play a sport for the rest of my life, I wanted to work with them. I had also heard that UNI was known for their outstanding athletic training program.

Have there been any healthcare professionals who have mentored or inspired you?

My athletic trainer in my high school, Chris Weidman, inspired me. I was often in the athletic training room, not because I was hurt, but because I enjoyed watching what he did and the interaction he had with the students.

What field experiences have you enjoyed the most and found the most rewarding?

I enjoyed all of the rotations I have had in the past years. I would have to say I enjoyed the high schools very much because that is what I hope to do after I graduate. I also enjoy the rotation I have this year with track and field. The athletes are a large part of what makes a sport fun to work with, and these athletes are awesome.

Any advice or tips for incoming students or other interested persons?

The best piece of advice that I could give to anyone entering the program is to ask questions! Never be afraid to ask questions!

What are future plans after UNI?

After I graduate in May I am getting married and hopefully getting a job at a high school or a clinic as an athletic trainer. We would like to go to either Colorado or Arizona.
