October 2005 Athletic Training Student of the Month

Wendy Divis

3rd Year Athletic Training Student

Hometown: LuVerne,IA

High School: Algona High School

Why did you choose the Athletic Training Education Program at UNI?

Ever since my college visit during my junior year of high school I’ve known that I eventually wanted to come to UNI. Everyone here was so helpful and I had a great visit.

Have there been any healthcare professionals who have mentored or inspired you?

My mom has worked in the healthcare field since I was little and I have always wanted to work in this field, I like working with people.

What field experiences have you enjoyed the most and found the most rewarding?

I have enjoyed my field experiences in the high schools the most. It has been great having so many different field experiences at UNI and getting to work with different Athletic Trainers and learn from their various styles.

Any advice or tips for incoming students or other interested persons?

Take advantage of all the opportunities your education at UNI can give you. Get involved with the extra things like UNISATO, research, Special Olympics and anything where you can have new experiences, meet new people and even learn something.

What are future plans after UNI?

I plan to get my masters degree in Athletic Training and work in a high school or clinic.
