September 2006 Athletic Training Student of the Month

3rd Year Athletic Training Student

Why did you choose the Athletic Training Education Program at UNI?

I had always been interested in the athletic training field thanks to some friends and relatives in the same area of study. I had heard that UNI’s program was an excellent experience and had a lot to offer. Thanks to Shelby Walsten in biology lab one afternoon, I decided that I wanted to look more into being a part of the program at UNI.

What field experiences have you enjoyed the most and found the most rewarding?

I really have enjoyed all my experiences, but I would have to say that UNI softball and football (thanks Ashley) were my favorites, along with my first second year rotation that I am currently completing at Covenant Physical Therapy.

Any advice or tips for incoming students or other interested persons?

Practice and ask lots of questions!! Never be afraid to ask questions in any classes or rotations, it will only benefit you in the long run. Taping has definitely been one of my weaknesses and only practice can make it better.

What are future plans after UNI?

After UNI, I plan to attend physical therapy school somewhere. ( my options are pretty open)
