Philip Fass
Professor of Art
graphic design

Philip Fass teaches typography, publication design, innovative book design and other graphic design courses. He earned his BFA at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and an MFA in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. A member of the faculty since 1991, his work has been published at the national and international level, and it has been honored numerous times with awards for excellence. 

Professor Fass’ work is in the collections of the Felice Feliciano Archive in Verona, the Newberry Library, Chicago; the Chicago Book Clinic, Chicago; the Brown University Special Collections, Providence RI; and the Manuel de Falla Archive, Madrid, Spain. 

He has been guest lecturer and presenter at other universities and has presented papers at the annual conference of the International Visual Literacy Association. 

In 2004 Professor Fass was a recipient of the Iowa Regents Award for Faculty Excellence. Work produced by his students has received high honors in professional contests at the state, regional and national levels.
