Karla Hackenmiller (BFA ’93) is an associate professor of art at Ohio University in Athens OH.
Steve Halverson (BA ’89, MA ’96, BA ’03) is a columnist and staff writer for VUE magazine in Dubuque.
Richard Hanson (BA ’71), who teaches art at Fort Dodge (Iowa) Senior High, had a recent exhibit of his watercolors at the OK Harris Gallery in New York. His website is www.rhansonwatercolors.com.

Leeanne Hemingway-Siebels (BA ‘03) teaches digital imaging in the art department the the University of Florida at Gainesville, where she earned an MFA in photography in 2007. 

Tara Hill (BFA ‘05), now living in Boston, recently presented a performance art piece at an international festival in Minsk, the capital of Belarus.
Erin Hoffman (BFA ‘01) is on the art faculty at the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia in Athens.
A digital animation by Soo Hostetler (née Soo-Kyung Chun) (MA ’98), titled Harmony and Mozart K.333, was selected as a finalist in the 2007 Best in the SW: Flash Animation & Motion Graphics Awards at a festival Albuquerque NM. She currently teaches graphic design at UNI.

Gerard Huber (BA ‘71) is a professor of painting and drawing at Texas A&M University.
Margaret Huber (BA ‘74) is head of illustration at the University of Brighton Design School, UK. Her husband is British author and artist Graham Rawle.
Inok Kalkwarf (BA ’05, MA ‘07) received the Outstanding Creative Thesis Award at UNI. More recently, she completed her MFA at the University of Iowa, and is now exhibiting and performing in South Korea. In Spring 2009, she will do the same in China.
Matt Kargol (BA ’97, MA) teaches art education and sculpture at Northern State University in Aberdeen ND.
Gary Kelley (BA ‘67) is one of the country’s best-known illustrators, known for (among many other achievements) his coffee shop murals of authors in Barnes and Noble bookstores. He was recently elected to the Society of Illustrators’ Hall of Fame.
Terra (Kelley) Burt (BA ‘05) teaches art at Waukee Middle School in Waukee IA.
Frances Kepes (MA ‘95) is an associate creative director at VML, a major advertising agency in New York. She recently returned to UNI to lecture on advertising.
Mary Kester (BA ‘69) is a tapestry artist who currrently lives in Baldwinsville NY.
David Klein (BA ’05) is a graphic designer at KLK Holdings in Hiawatha IA.

Chad Kreel (BA ‘00) owns his own graphic design, True Blue Design in Mechanicsville IA.

Mary Alice (Kunes) Applegate (MA ‘96) works for the Department of Community Affairs for the State of Georgia. She is a community advisor for downtown revitalization programs.

Wayne Lacox (BA ’72, MA ‘73) was a teacher for many years, and is also a musician, songwriter, storyteller and farmer, who lives near Van Meter IA. For over thirty years, he has been the lead singer for the South Dallas County Cowboy Crewcut Band. He’s also a writer now, as a result of the recent inclusion of his essay/memoir about the day in 1985 when the band was the opening act for a country western show that starred Mel Tillis, Charlie Walker and Dave Dudley. Titled “Our MisAdventures as the World’s Finest Opening Act,” it was published in the Winter 2008 issue of Enjoy the Ride Magazine. 

Terri Laffan (BA ‘84) is founder and proprietor of the Little Art School in West Seattle WA.

Emily Lamberston-Minnie (BFA ‘00) teaches in the art department at Tulane University in New Orleans.

Carroll Lang (BA ‘65) is pastor at the Church of the Damacus Road, a prison congregation in Fort Dodge and Rockwell City IA.

Frank Laury (BA ‘50) is an emeritus professor of art at California State University at Fresno.

Jean Ray Laury (BA ‘50) is a designer, author, teacher and quilting expert who lives in California.

Richard Leet (BA ’58, MA ‘65) is retired as Director of the Charles MacNider Art Museum in Mason City.
















Peter Lytle (BA ‘72) is founder and executive director of Live Green, Live Smart. He created the first home to receive a platinum certification from the US Green Building Council.
Richard Marcussen (BA ‘60) teaches art and coaches swimming at Cedar Falls High School.
Stefanie Mason (BA ‘06) is a graphic designer at Hawkeye sports marketing at the University of Iowa.
Josh Mateer (BA ‘95) is a senior designer at Stamats, Inc., in Cedar Rapids IA.
Ryan McAdam (BA ‘98) is a graphic designer at Fine Design in San Francisco.
Sean McKay (BFA ’92) is senior partner and CEO of ConnectFive, a design firm in Minneapolis and Iowa City.

Julie McLaughlin (BA ’97) is a self-employed artist. She owns her own storefront studio, called McJulie Studios in Dysart IA.

Rene Meyer (BA ‘05) is an assistant professor of graphic design at Augustana College in Rock Island IL.

Abinadi Meza (BA ‘99), who lives in Minneapolis, was recently a resident artist at the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin.
Josh Minnie (BFA ‘00) is living in New Orleans, where he is manager of screen operations at Flavor Paper.
Tom Mueske (BFA ‘05) is a painter, working and exhibiting in San Francisco. He will have a solo exhibition at the Haines Gallery in 2008.
Steve Muller (BFA ‘06) is completing an MFA degree at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
Sean Murphy (BFA ‘04) is a graphic designer at Mission Creative in Dubuque.
Craig Newsom (BA ’87, BFA ‘92) teaches at Blackburn College in Carlinville IL. He returned to UNI as a guest artist in September 2006.
Denise O’Bleness (BA ‘77) is senior designer at Grey Worldwide, one of the country’s largest advertising firms.
Chawne Paige (BFA ‘01) is a graphic designer at the Waterloo Museum of Art in Waterloo IA. 
Kyriaskos Papaspyrou (BFA ‘04) is a publication designer in New York.
Three works by Marcus Payzant (BA ‘05) were reproduced in color in the 2006 edition of New American Paintings. He’s living in Tempe AZ, and was recently included in an exhibition in Phoenix.
Bill Pendry (BFA ‘02) is a senior graphic designer at Martin Brothers in Cedar Falls.
Dale Phelps (BFA ‘05) has continued his involvement in printmaking at his Waterloo studio. He and his wife recently donated the funds for a new large children’s wing at the Waterloo Museum of Art. 
Elise Plakke (BA ‘96) is senior art director at L.L. Bean in Portland ME. During the summer of 2007, she studied at Harvard University.
Randy J. Ploog (BA ‘80) is International Programs Coordinator in the College of Arts and Architecture at Penn State University.
Steve Proffitt (MA ‘75) is senior producer of the news program Day to Day on National Public Radio.
Brian Reeves (BFA ’92) lives in Portland, Maine, where he is a co-founder of a satirical production shop, called Slop Art. The firm was featured in Art Journal. Volume 66 No 1, Spring 2007, pp. 75-78.

Robert Reisling (MA ‘65) has taught for many years at the Memphis College of Art.
Ben Ressler (BA ‘06) is an elementary and high school art teacher for the Western Dubuque County Community School District.
Laura Riskedahl (BA 2003) is a metadata librarian at Bucknell University in Lewisburg PA.

Libby Rowe (BFA ‘93) is on the art faculty at Vanderbilt University in Nashville TN.
Matt Rowland (BFA ’06) is a graphic designer at North Design in Toledo, Ohio. He was one of the designers of the brochures, websites, presentations and other materials for a successful application by the city of Socchi (Russia) to host the 2014 Winter Olympics.
