THE UNI Department of Art provides full and partial tuition scholarships for a substantial number of its majors. The judging for these in-house scholarship awards takes place annually in the spring. At that time, all students who are majors in Art Studio, Art History and Art Education are invited to compete for departmental scholarships by exhibiting the work they’ve made in the past year. Department of Art tuition scholarships are also available for a small number of high school students who plan to enter UNI as art majors in the following fall. The judging for this event takes place annually in the fall. Many other awards are offered annually to individual students, consisting of funds that were donated by private donors, alumni, the North American Review, and the College of Humanities and Fine Arts. In the spring semester of each year, several thousand dollars in cash is awarded to students at the opening ceremonies of the Annual Student Exhibition. The scholarships mentioned above are only those given within the Department of Art, and that are specifically targeted for the majors within that department. But there are many other scholarships, that are not based on one’s choice of major, that are available on campus, as well as from off-campus organizations.
