Begeman Hall Art Proposal Directions

SELECTION CRITERIA

Artist selection will be based on:

CHECKLIST OF APPLICATION MATERIALS:

To be considered for the Begeman Physics Building art project, please submit the following items:

  1. Brief letter of interest with all contact information (maximum two pages).
  2. Include a clearly written artist’s concept statement / narrative description of possible approaches to this project. Other descriptive materials may be included (i.e. simple drawings, photographs, or computer prints.) Visual images larger than 8 ˝” x 11” should fold out from a folder or binder.
  3. Color prints or digital photographs on CD of recent artwork or projects, labeled with artist’s name, artwork title, medium, size and date, and numbered to correspond with an accompanying information list with a brief description of each work; Do not send original work.
  4. Professional resume.
  5. Names and contact information of two references familiar with your past work.
  6. Self-addressed, stamped envelope for return of any visual material.

FINALISTS:

Up to three artists will be selected and each paid $500 to cover the cost of creating and shipping the final detailed project proposal to the Committee. After proposals are received, the Committee may want to take the opportunity to telephone finalists to ask questions. Once the final proposals are received and reviewed, final selection will take place and the finalist will be notified as quickly as possible. The Committee will pay expenses to bring the artist to Cedar Falls to participate in the Dedication of the art, and to give a lecture to students.
