Membership Frequently Asked Questions

What does SAA do for the University?

Ambassadors are the official student representatives of the University. In this role, Student Ambassadors give campus tours, conduct panels, and host events for a variety of campus activities through University Admissions, The Office of the President, The Alumni Association, and the UNI Foundation.

What kind of time commitment is involved?

The Student Ambassadors have a standard of excellence that the University relies on every day. Ambassadors must be virtuous while committing themselves to the University at the highest level. In doing so, Ambassadors will find their largest time commitments in the following areas:

  • Mandatory attendance at bi-weekly meetings on Tuesdays at 9:15pm
  • Weekly Admissions Office tour (1 hour)
  • Help with UNI Preview Days on Monday, Friday and occasional Saturdays
  • Committee meetings for preparation of activities
  • Other mandatory events include: Fall and Spring Retreats, Homecoming Parade, MIC Night, Apple Polishers, and Awards Banquet
  • Participation in as many other Ambassador events as possible

What kind of person is a Student Ambassador?

With 50 diverse personalities, SAA brings together many different students at UNI. In spite of this, all Ambassadors share three common traits: Commitment, Camaraderie with fellow Ambassadors, and a Consummate passion for the University.
